This West Coast big-band hero made some great Pacific Jazz LPs in the '60s. These recording for the Jubilee radio series, though, take US to his mid-'40s beginnings: Snooky Young, Trummy Young, Red Calendar and other aces are in his band on April in Paris (vocal: Herb Jeffries): Louise: That Harlem Yank: Till the End of Time, and more including one with Mel Torme!
